Privacy Policy

PriceProven (priceproven.com) records AliExpress prices over time. This policy covers the website, the emails you ask us to send, and the PriceProven browser extension.

PriceProven is responsible for the personal information described here (the “controller” under data-protection law). You can reach us at [email protected].

You can use PriceProven without an account. We hold an email address only if you choose to give us one:

• Price alerts. If you ask us to tell you about a product’s price, we store your email address and the product the alert is about.
• Daily email. If you subscribe, we store your email address.
• Email prompt. When you first check a listing or open a product, we may ask for an email address. You can skip this and continue. If you provide one, we store it together with the product you were viewing. Providing an address here does not subscribe you to the daily email, which is a separate and optional choice.

We do not ask for your name, postal address or payment details. We do not process payments; purchases are made on AliExpress.

Like most websites, we collect some technical information automatically:

• Links to AliExpress. When you follow one of our links to AliExpress, we record the click: the product and link you used, the page you came from, your browser type and an approximate country. We use this to account for affiliate referrals, so it is recorded whether or not you accept optional cookies. It is not linked to your name or email address.
• Server logs. Our servers and our network provider log requests for security and troubleshooting. These logs include IP addresses and browser information.
• Usage statistics. If you accept optional cookies, we count visits and actions such as price checks using a random identifier. We record the type of page viewed rather than its address.

We may also use IP addresses briefly to limit misuse of features such as the price checker.

The extension checks the AliExpress product you are viewing against the price history PriceProven has recorded.

After you give permission, the extension may send the product page URL, the product title and the main image URL to PriceProven, so that we can identify the listing and return its record. Like any web request, this reaches us with an IP address and browser information, which we handle as described in this policy.

The extension does not require a PriceProven account. Saved products and extension preferences are stored locally in your browser unless a feature needs to communicate with PriceProven. On priceproven.com, the extension can read the products you saved on the website so that it can show them alongside those you saved in the extension; that list stays in your browser.

If you turn on price monitoring for a saved product, the extension periodically checks PriceProven for updated price information and may notify you when the conditions shown in the extension are met. Browser notifications appear only if you allow them.

The image-search feature sends the image you select to AliExpress’s image-search service, which handles it under AliExpress’s own privacy policy. The feature is not designed to upload that image to PriceProven.

Information the extension sends to PriceProven is used to provide the lookup and to keep our price record current. It is not sold, and it is not used for personalised advertising.

You can turn off automatic checks or remove the extension at any time. Removing the extension deletes the data it stored locally in that browser. The permissions the extension uses are explained on the extension page.

We use the information described above to:

• provide the service you asked for, such as a price alert or the daily email;
• operate, secure and improve the website and the extension;
• account for affiliate referrals and measure our advertising.

A price alert is sent when we have recorded enough price history to give you an answer. If you chose to keep receiving alerts for that product, we also email you when it later reaches a new low. Every message includes a link that stops further email.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.

We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage to make the site work and to remember your choices.

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use PriceProven and where the website may be difficult to use. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the website, and Google advertising tools to measure advertising performance. Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling, and masks what you type into forms by default. These providers may receive standard browser and page information when their services are active.

Your cookie choice controls optional storage by these services. If you reject, PriceProven tells them not to store cookies, removes the Google advertising cookie if one was already set, and repeats that instruction on every page you open. If you accept, optional storage is allowed. Until you choose, optional storage is off by default where the law requires consent. Your choice controls cookies; it does not switch off Clarity’s session recording. You can change your choice by clearing PriceProven’s cookies and choosing again when the banner appears, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Microsoft and Google may also set cookies on their own domains, which are governed by their privacy policies.

We use the following companies to run the service. They receive only the information needed to provide their services to us.

Our links lead to AliExpress, and product images are loaded directly from AliExpress’s servers. AliExpress handles information it receives under its own privacy policy.

Our website is hosted in Canada. Some of our providers operate in the United States and other countries, so your information may be processed outside your own country.

Server logs and database backups are kept for 30 days. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. If you unsubscribe, we keep a record of your address so that we do not email you again; you can ask us to delete that record too.

We have not yet set fixed retention periods for click records and usage statistics. They are currently kept until we delete them or you ask us to. You can ask us to delete your information at any time; see Your rights and choices.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion.

To make a request, email [email protected] from the address the request concerns, so that we can locate the record. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops further email.

We use HTTPS to encrypt traffic between your browser and PriceProven, and we restrict and protect access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

PriceProven is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the date at the top.
